Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande-Butera (/,a:ri'a:n@ 'gra:ndeI/ AR -ee-AH-n@ GRAHN-day, [note 1] born June 26 in 1993) is an American performer, songwriter, and actress. Her four-octave vocal range and her signature use of the whistle register are highly acclaimed by the media and critics. Grande has received many awards throughout her career including two Grammy Awards, one Brit Award as well as one Bambi Award, two Billboard Music Awards and three American Music Awards, nine MTV Video Music Awards, and 30 Guinness World Records.

Grande began her musical career at age 15 during the 2008 Broadway musical 13. Grande rose to stardom as Cat Valentine on Nickelodeon's television series Victorious (2010 from 2010 to 2013) and Sam & Cat(2013 from 2013 to 2014). After watching YouTube videos of Grande singing, Republic Records signed Grande to their label in the year. The 1950s-doo-wop-inspired R&B and pop debut album"Yours Truly (2013) which debuted at the top ten on the US Billboard Hot 100. Grande's vocals and the whistle sound in the album were immediately in comparison to Mariah Carey.

In her third and fourth studio albums My Everything (2014), and Dangerous Woman (2016), she continued exploring pop and R&B. My Everything tried EDM, and became a huge hit thanks to the hit singles "Problem", Break Free and "Bang Bang", while Dangerous Woman was her first of four consecutive number one albums released in the UK. The personal challenges she faced influenced her trap-infused fourth (2018) and fifth studio album, Sweetener (2018), which were both critical and commercial successes. Sweetener earned her the Grammy Award as Best Pop Vocal Album. Thank U, Next was nominated as an the Album of the Year and broke the record in streaming for the largest pop album. Grande was the first solo artist to achieve the top three positions on the Hot 100 and become the first woman to achieve the top spot on the UK Singles Chart with the singles "Thank U. Next", "7 Rings" and "Break up with Your Girlfriend. She broke the Hot 100 record for the highest number one debuts when she released Justin Bieber's collaboration of "Stuck with U" with Lady Gaga. The latter won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. Grande's sixth studio album, Positions (2020), expanded her focus on trap music. The album as well as its lead single made it to number one in the UK. In 2021, she teamed up with The Weeknd on the remix of "Save Your Tears", earning her sixth US number-one hit single.
